So do he and I. We haven't had a conversation yet where either of us weren't upset, I know he hates me in some ways, and we rarely get along, but we're... sort of... friends.

If you were confident before, then you have to get along on some level, even if you argue.

On some level, yeah.

[ Both him and Jin Ling with their impossible standards for friends, but he thinks they reached that level at one point. And then plummeted again, as you do. But it goes up there again when it matters, so that's why Ayabe would consider them friends. ]

The point is, you don't have to get along with people all the time to be friends with them. It's impossible to like somebody all the time.
